Terms & Conditions
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, compiling, or using BIT ("the Application"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must discontinue using and uninstall the application immediately.
2. Sovereign Architecture & User Responsibility
BIT functions as a locally hosted runtime environment and sovereign inference harness. Because the application operates entirely on your physical hardware without remote moderation:
The developer and open-source contributors of BIT bear no liability for any content generated, transmitted, or compiled by end-users.
3. Third-Party AI Models & Weights
BIT enables you to download and execute public neural network weights (such as GGUF models from Hugging Face) or load weights from your local filesystem:
- No Authorship of Third-Party Weights: The developers of BIT did not author, train, fine-tune, or moderate third-party weights. BIT is an execution engine, not a content provider.
- Model Hallucinations & Non-Determinism: Neural models may output inaccurate, biased, or non-deterministic statements. You should never rely on model outputs for professional legal, financial, or medical guidance without independent human verification.
- License Compliance: You agree to abide by the respective licensing terms of any model you download or run (including Meta Llama 3 Community License, Google Gemma Terms of Use, Apache 2.0, or Mistral AI licenses).
4. Prohibited Uses
You agree that you will not use BIT to:
- Generate, facilitate, or distribute child sexual exploitation or abuse material (CSAM) under any circumstances.
- Develop malware, cyberattack tooling, ransomware, or unauthorized surveillance software intended to compromise systems you do not own.
- Engage in illegal activities or generate defamatory or fraudulent materials under applicable local or international laws.
5. Linux Workspaces & Tool Execution (PRoot Sandbox)
BIT includes embedded terminal and container tooling (PRoot Linux environments, GBNF agent execution):
- User-Space Execution: Containers execute in unprivileged user space within the app's internal sandbox and do not have Android root access.
- Script Execution: You are solely responsible for all commands, shell scripts, package installations (via apt/apk), and build processes executed inside the container environment.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability
BIT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS, COPYRIGHT HOLDERS, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, LOSS OF DATA, DEVICE DAMAGE, OR OTHER LIABILITY ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.
7. Open Source License
The core BIT application is released as free and open-source software under the Apache License, Version 2.0. You are permitted to inspect, modify, and distribute the source code subject to the conditions of the Apache 2.0 license.
